South African Maskandi artist uDumakahle has released the first part of his new double-disc album “ISITHUNZI SAKHO album,” continuing his strong run within the modern Maskandi scene.
Disc 1 arrived on September 25, 2026, with 13 tracks and a runtime of approximately 57 minutes. The project is officially listed under the Maskandi genre and was released through Dumakahle Entertainment.
ISITHUNZI SAKHO was announced as a larger 25-track double-disc project. The first side contains 13 songs, while a second disc featuring another 12 tracks is expected to follow in October 2026.
Musically, the project remains rooted in the guitar-driven sound, expressive vocals and storytelling associated with traditional Maskandi. uDumakahle handles much of the instrumentation himself, including lead guitar, backing vocals and bass vocals, while Phathaphatha Ngcobo contributes keyboards and Dogzin Madoda Ntshingila handles bass guitar. The material was recorded at Takk Studio, with Scelo Hlongane handling engineering and Ivan Smith responsible for mixing and mastering.
One of the key collaborations on the first disc is “Imbali,” featuring Shwi noMtekhala. The song was released ahead of the album and helped introduce listeners to the emotional direction of the project.
Across Disc 1, uDumakahle explores songs including “Ukhona uShembe,” “Ama Flashlight,” “Icar Accident,” “Sihlukana Sibuyelana,” “Bayayiloya Imali,” “Ukuthanda Umunt'oyedwa,” “My Father Was Rich” and “Ngiyanibonga.” The record also contains a tribute to late Maskandi legend Bhekumuzi Luthuli.
According to coverage surrounding the release, the songs touch on themes including love, family and personal challenges, while maintaining the traditional rhythms and storytelling approach that have become central to uDumakahle’s music.
